Children of Gaza

Two surgeons from the UK, Dr Ang Swee Chai and Dr Ghassan Abu Sittah managed to enter Gaza during the Israeli invasion of December 2008 and January 2009, and wrote an article which was published in the Lancet.  Dr Swee will describe some of her experiences and the horrific and often unfamiliar range of injuries they witnessed and treated there.

With her husband Francis Khoo, and some friends, Dr Ang Swee Chai was a founder of Medical Aid for Palestinians.  She is also the author of the book 'From Beirut to Jerusalem' about her time in the refugee camps in Sabra and Shatila in1982 when the massacre occurred. Dr Swee is consultant orthopaedic surgeon at the Royal London Hospital.
