Palestinian Political Prisoners: International Law and the Palestinian Struggle

Tuesday, 12 February, 2013 - 19:30

Sahar Francis, Human Rights Lawyer and Director of Addameer. (Prisoner Support and Human Rights Association) will speak about Addameer's work of support and advocacy for Palestinian political prisoners.
Following our very successful November meeting “Palestinian Prisoners and Human Rights” organised jointly with Oxford Palestine Solidarity Campaign and Oxford Ramallah Friendship Association, Network of Oxford Women for Justice and Peace are very pleased to be organising this meeting with Sahar Francis, a prominent woman human rights lawyer in Palestine.
Sahar’s work has included representing children held without trial in Israeli jails. She spoke out against the deportation of Palestinian political prisoners released by Israel during the prisoner exchange, and she and her organisation campaign for the Palestinian Prisoners on hunger strike.
Recent attacks by the Israeli military on the offices of Addameer and other Human Rights organisations in the West Bank have not dented the work done by Addameer, which has the support of Amnesty International condemning the raids as “part of a wider onslaught against Palestinian human rights and civil society organizations and their staff.”
